Speaking of history, we would like you to reach back into your past and join us for the “Road to Woodstock!” Our annual Spring Fling event will once again be outdoors with a “Peace, Love and Music” theme. As you drive up the coast from Florida to New York, you will eat your way through the states ending in our recreation of a dairy farm in Bethel, New York that hosted the historic Woodstock event. Music will be provided by your favorite house band, Private Stock, who will provide a concert through the decades beginning with Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, Joan Baez and Joe Cocker as well as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crosby Stills & Young, The Grateful Dead and The Who. And let’s not forget Blood Sweat & Tears, Canned Heat, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Sha Na Na or Sly & the Family Stone! So pull out your hippie chick clothes and get ready to boogie down! members, you see the end result, or sometimes the work in progress, but you don’t always see what happens behind the scenes for us to get from point a to point z. For instance, we have two new cooking programs on the docket over the next three months that grew from something else. Our Cooking Class Competition, which begins April 22, is a combination of our Hands On Cooking demonstrations of the past. We added a little twist to it because so many people enjoy the friendly competition of our Iron Chef program, which is scheduled for April 8. And then there is our Chili Cookoff happening Memorial Day weekend, which will challenge members to dust off their favorite chili recipe and then pair it with a signature sandwich. The winners of both the Cooking Class Competition and the Chili Cookoff will receive bragging rights and a spot on our menus. And what goes better with chili than beer?? Another new idea that grew from something else, we have married our summer Wednesday wine tastings on Zoom with our “Cocktails Kits” and created a Drinking Club! Our inaugural event will be a craft beer competition where local breweries will come in to compete for the right to develop our very own signature craft draft beer. This exclusive brew will be on tap in the sports bar. Come join us April 9 to be a part of Boca Grove history!
