A s we journey into the exciting future of our new Sports and Wellness Center, I thought it would be a good time to examine exactly what amenities create a “wellness” center. The Fitness Center/ gym is no longer just a place to lift heavy weights and sprint on a treadmill. While both these activities can still be done, the modern facility is much more diversified in activities and practices. So, what exactly does wellness entail? In 2013 the Mayo clinic released “The Elements of Wellness” which consisted of: - Physical well-being: body weight maintenance and disease prevention with exercise and physical therapy. - Intellectual growth: physical activity linked to increase nerve development in the brain and memory function. - Social interaction: enhancing and creating friendships through group classes and shared interests. - Spiritual fulfillment: not in the religious sense but more enhancing self-worth, confidence, relaxation, stress relief. Yoga, and tai chi are great examples. Thus, the main goal is to create an overall better quality of life for the membership of Boca Grove. This is an excellent segway into April’s Transformation Challenge, which is a six-week program designed to educate membership on fitness routines, food choices and positive daily routes. There will also weekly group workouts and check-ins. In short creating accountability, consistency and safety. We are excited to begin this journey and hope to continue on in a phase 2 challenge later in the year. Because this event has started, a prorated rate is available. Therapy to the Gym/Sports: Physical Therapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. On-Site Physical Therapy can help you get back to your prior level of function and get you back on the golf course, tennis court, or in the gym. Our trained Therapists are here to give you the stepping stones to succeed in your activity of choice. All of our Therapists are educated, licensed and are continuously updating their education and skills to be up to date with the newest and latest treatments and equipment. They love what they do and really take pride in helping you to achieve your therapy goals. When you are finished with your Physical Therapy and ready to make the transition back to your activity of choice we are in the perfect location to be able to set up a plan of action with your trainer and/or golf/tennis pro to ensure you make a safe transition. We are happy to take the time to make sure you get the best care within this time. We know how important your health and wellness is and will help you to achieve your top performance levels with the entire health and wellness team working for you.
